The Climbing Wall, Rob and the Team joined the British Polio Fellowship as we celebrated our 70th Anniversary by holding 6 Forums throughout Great Britain.
We were providing a mixture of information and fun. And our members certainly had fun climbing the wall!
As the majority of our members are over 50, many using wheelchairs, this was quite a challenge for them, and sometimes for Rob. But he never failed to get everyone who wanted to to the top of the wall.
The sense of achievement for everyone was enormous. So many had never had the opportunity to try such an activity before and were a little reticent to begin with. But Rob's caring and professional approach encouraged everyone. He was skilled at assessing the capabilities of individuals and able to ensure their safety.

The event was a huge success, we set ourselves the goal of demonstrating to parents what their Rett sons and daughters could achieve. We succeeded beyond any expectations with 12 people with Rett Syndrome plus many other siblings and mums and dads making it to the top of the climbing wall.
You only have to see the video and photo footage on the Rett Syndrome website and on facebook to see the sheer sense of fun, fulfilment, and motivation your company provided for all the participants.

Our fun filled day would not have been the same without the help, support and fabulous stuff we got from Outstanding Events - we really felt they lived up to their name!
Rob's assistance in planning the event, what we would need and what he thought would work, was invaluable. As someone who had never planned anything like this I was grateful for advice and Rob's was thoughtful, never patronising and his experience and expertise shone through in every conversation we had.

On the day he turned up on time and worked and worked and worked! His team were cheerful in the face of 900 people all wanting a go on the climbing walls. He was brilliant at helping make sure that everyone got a go - even taking up one of our leaders who is in a wheelchair.

We invited Rob and his team in to run a big games session as part of our 'Day 1', a learning to learn day for all students, designed to re-focus them on creative approaches to learning and personal learning and thinking skills following the lengthy Summer break.
Amongst a variety of other activities, our Y8 and Y9 students took part in a big games workshop.
The students were immediately engaged and worked furiously to gain team points.
Through teamwork, lateral thinking skills and communication they succeeded in solving some very problematic puzzles.
For teachers getting involved and supporting the students, it was an opportunity to build and re-establish relationships in a fun and vibrant learning environment.

Bretton Parish Council hired the climbing wall for their Festival which was held on the 18th July 2009.
Before the event was officially opened, children were asking if they could have a go and came rushing to the Parish Council tent to buy a token.
For the 4 hours of the festival we sold many tokens and there was always a queue of children waiting to go on.
The people managing the wall were very polite and patient with the children and as they were dressed in rock climbing gear gave the impression of being professional.

Thank you for coming to our event.
We felt that the Climbing Wall was the highlight of our event and it was good to see young people participating. I especially liked seeing young people trying to climb unsuccessfully but then trying again until they could do it.
We estimate that at least 200 students went up the wall which is very good value for money. Outstanding Events were very professional, had a good rapport with people who were climbing the wall and were very patient.
It did not take long for the wall to be set up and it did not take up much space.
The feedback from students and staff was excellent. Everyone enjoyed it and had a real sense of achievement when they got to the top.
We linked the wall with the Aim Higher Project which was a good link as we encourage students to progress on to higher courses and reach their full potential.

Throughout the working relationship, the level of professionalism shown by Outstanding Events could not have been higher!
From start to finish Rob and the team provided a quality service with a variety of activities which ranged widely in their appeal. This was essential given the nature of the sessions we were delivering, providing activities for children as young as 5 to young people in their late teens.
It was evident that every member of the team had been recruited to a high standard which gave our staff the freedom to concentrate on developing relationships with young people and enjoying the experience ourselves!
Of all the activities that were available through Outstanding Events it was evident that with younger children the most popular was the Mobile Climbing Wall.
However it was clear that the great success amongst the older generations was the Nintendo Wii.
Due to the variety of games and highly interactive nature, the Wii provided an opportunity for positive interaction between the different age groups, and also between adults and young people.

The Outstanding Events Company delivered a three day programme of activities at the Centre including Aeroball, Human Buzz Wire and Giant Puzzles. Key to the success of the event was to provide a range of activities that not only differentiated themselves from the norm but also appealed to such a wide diversity of people.
