EDUCATIONAL ACTIVITY DAYS

The Outstanding Events Company have unique experience in organizing and running Educational Activity Days.

Anyone who works with children or young people knows that a stimulated child will learn effectively and be more receptive to new ideas. We can design a day to help you attain your goals and objectives.

Your day can fulfill the requirements of the National Curriculum in either PE or PSHE. We have so many ideas and activities available that we will ensure that your day is motivating and inspiring from beginning to end.

Outdoor and Adventurous Activities (OAA) is a key area of the PE curriculum. In this area pupils learn skills in problem solving, communication, leadership, planning and evaluation. Most of the skills children develop will help them meet the demands of other PE units.

We provide the opportunity to participate in challenging areas with elements of risk taking and decision making.

Our trainers present mental and physical challenges, which encourage children to work collaboratively, building on trust and developing skills to solve problems as an individual or a group.

Aeroball

Aeroball

Aeroball is a competitive sporting activity based around a twin trampoline. The twin trampoline beds are surrounded by netting so they are extremely safe. There is no possibility of falling off or out and the springs are covered by vinyl pads to keep them safe.
The object of the activity is to score points by sending the Aeroball through your opponents scoring ring which is sewn into the back of his trampoline area.
The equipment accommodates 2 competitors at a time, so we run the session with 2 teams. There are a variety of games which we run to keep the youngsters entertained.
Ideal group size is 12 - 16 with a suggested duration of 1 hour

Archery

Archery

Archery is a traditional sport dating back to the 16th Century and still featuring in the Olympics.
We create a safe archery range comprising of two marquees to keep everyone protected from the weather, backstop netting to catch any 'stray' arrows and a rope fencing to secure the area from casual visitors.
We also provide 4 targets so each person is shooting at their own target. We have both left and right handed bows in two sizes, junior and senior. After a short, but detailed, safety talk, the participants will get the chance to have a go themselves. Under the watchful eye of our Range Officer, 4 participants at a time approach the shooting line to shoot their 3 arrows. When they have all finished they will collect their arrows from the target and calculate their scores.
Within a session we would expect everyone to have between 3 and 5 goes with a team competition to finish.
Ideal group size is 12 - 16 with a suggested duration of 1 hour.

Climbing

Mobile Climbing Wall

Our Mobile Climbing Wall allows us to bring a climbing wall onto your school grounds.
We provide all the required safety equipment so that everyone is fully prepared at the start of the session. We put a rope barrier around the area so that no-one can be injured by wandering into the climbing area.
Our instructors will teach the best way to climb before giving everyone an opportunity to put their learning into practice. After each attempt we will offer more advise and instructions, so that users can improve through the session.
Our wall has four separate climbing faces, each with multiple routes built into it. In the event that someone is able to climb all the routes with ease, we will design specific challenges to really push them to the limits. The wall is 7.3m high and uniquely, we can set up systems to enable wheelchair users to reach the top of the wall.
A standard session allows all the children plenty of opportunity to climb at least 3 of the 4 faces. If we have extended sessions we can set up traditional rope systems and teach more advanced climbing techniques.
Ideal group size is 12 - 16 with a suggested duration of between 1 and 2 hours.

Construction Challenge

Construction Challenge

Construction Challenge is an unusually versatile activity which is suitable for all ages.
The activity uses a plastic construction kit made up of nuts, bolts, giant girders, wheels, washers and more.
Our instructors will divide the group into teams of between 4 and 6 participants before distributing the kit. They will then have to construct the required projects as directed by the instructor.
Projects may be the tallest tower, the shortest stack or possibly a balancing scale to weigh some components.
The session offers excellent opportunities for group work, communication, problem solving, lateral thinking and sharing. During the course of the session, we can rearrange the teams so that everyone gets a chance to work with people they might not otherwise choose.
Ideal group size is 8 - 15 for those under 9 years old and 8 - 30 for older, with a suggested duration of 1 hour.

Puzzle Zone

Puzzle Zone

Puzzle Zone is one of our most popular activities.
The activity is made up of more than 60 puzzles all built on a giant scale. As an example, a jigsaw puzzle may be over 1 metre square.
The full activity includes jigsaws, logic and brain teaser puzzles, word and number puzzles and lateral thinking puzzles.
Each puzzle has with it a 'puzzle card' which describes the rules of the puzzle, instructions for how to complete it and a point score.
The object of the session is to work in small teams of 3 people scoring as many points as possible. The teams will need to decide how to approach the task and how best to use their resources. This activity covers planning and strategy, group work, communication, problem solving, not to mention the obvious educational benefits of solving the puzzles and learning the concepts involved.
Ideal group size is 8 - 15 for those under 9 years old and 8 - 30 for older, with a suggested duration of 1 hour.

Parachute Games

Parachute Games

If you have never played Parachute Games, you have no idea what you are missing. Suitable for all ages, these games will keep you entertained for hours. Played with a specially constructed parachute, these games offer a unique activity experience.

Even those who have played parachute games previously will be amazed by our sessions. Our staff are so experienced in this activity that they actually train others in the use of Parachute Games.

Ideally suited to the indoors, we can work outdoors if it is not too windy. Having various sizes of parachute means we can work with between 6 and 30 people at one time. Ideal session length is 1 hour.

Team Challenges

Team Challenges

Our Team Challenge sessions are used to focus on specific areas of development. Specifically; Communication, Responsibility, Consequences of Actions, Verbalizing Ideas and Lateral Thinking.

We have a wide range of challenges to choose from suitable for both in and outdoor sessions.

Ideal group size is 6 - 8 and session length of at least 1 hour. Ideal age is 13 to 19.

Multi-Activity Day Timetable

This timetable was designed for 3 groups, each with 15 students. The groups all took part in 5 different activities throughout the day.

As the groups move through the activities, they travel through what we call the 'Activity Cycle'. This ensures that they are not always doing physical or mentally stimulating activity, but that they get to experience a variety of skills.

Depending on the number of participants, more or less activities can be introduced to accommodate them.
