STAFF TRAINING & DEVELOPMENT
Outstanding Events offer a range of experiential activities which provide participants with a wide range of learning opportunities. Clients can choose which activity (including supporting documentation) they wish to focus on, either Problem Solving, Business Priorities or Performance Management.
PROBLEM SOLVING
Gain insights in to their and others' personal approaches and blocks to problem solving.
BUSINESS PRIORITIES
Customer focus - Includes understanding and meeting customers' needs.
Selling profitably - working efficiently / effectively, accurate costing, understanding the value of your offering, negotiating for profit.
Planning - identifying and agreeing how to achieve objectives, reviewing progress, revising plans.
PERFORMANCE MANAGEMENT
Set and work towards objectives, develop and evaluate approaches, monitor progress, revise plans, manage relationship with colleagues and competitors.
Each activity has its own learning objectives but all are complimentary. As they vary in complexity, they have been given a rating of introductory, intermediate and advanced. Please find below some details of these activities.
Activity Name - Over the Bridge™
Summary Level: Introductory, Time: 2½ - 4 hours, Participants: 5 - 14.
Description Making a bridge and a vehicle is relatively easy. Establishing and meeting the customer's specification is a different matter. A two part activity: part one introduces the concepts, part two provides opportunities to change behaviour.
Business Skills Clarifying objectives, planning, introduction to team skills, customer focus.
Activity Name - Rectangle™
Summary Level: Introductory / Intermediate, Time: 1½ - 2½ hours, Participants: 6 - 12.
Description The task is straightforward (although people may see it differently). The problem is that to succeed everyone who is involved must work together, keep up to date with progress, offer ideas clearly and concisely, listen and respond positively to others'.
Business Skills Planning before acting, revising plans as information is received, listening, the impact on people of poor communications.
Activity Name - The Trailer™
Summary Level: Advanced, Time: 1½ - 2 hours, Participants: 8 - 12.
Description The workers have all the materials and information to complete the task, they just need to be 'pointed in the right direction'. Why do the managers interfere and the workers acquiesce?
Business Skills Leadership, empowerment and 'letting go', understanding and accepting the responsibilities of a team member, accepting and valuing others' ideas.
Activity Name - MAXI™ Leadership
Summary Level: Introductory / Intermediate, Time: 40 minutes - 6 hours, Participants: 4 - 12.
Description 15 shorter activities. each provides opportunities for participants to experience different aspects of leadership and to consider how a leader's approach affects their followers. Plus 4 longer activities that have been designed to broaden the leaning and take it to a deeper level.
Business Skills Learning opportunities, basics of instruction, gaining and demonstrating commitment to others' ideas, challenging the way a group is approaching a task, remote working, setting targets for others, balancing personal vs leadership workloads.
